A new project from Samuel Bradley comprising of two films and a print campaign. Created in collaboration with Mulberry and Nicholas Daley featuring Shabaka Hutchings of Sons of Kemet and Lianne La Havas.
“The music you’re hearing in the film was recorded on location. The cutaways were done with playback but this is a live performance. We had one rehearsal day for Shabaka to teach a song to the band whilst we figured out the perfect timing for the opening shot. This involved two people – one of them playing the opening melody – walking from one side of the chapel to the other in time for the full band to come in.
At the risk of gushing here, I can’t thank the musicians in this film enough. I started my career in photography shooting bands in my local town and have been writing music on and off since I was 12 years old. This felt like the perfect coalescence of everything I love with new elements I never could have predicted. Standing at a monitor with headphones in for the first take of the performance was wonderful.” – Samuel
